The Botany Industrial Park Pty Ltd (BIP) was established in June, 1999, as part of a requirement by the New South Wales, Department of Urban Affairs and Planning that the safety, health and environmental standards already established prior to the merger of Orica and Qenos’ polythene businesses were maintained.

The Botany Industrial Park (BIP) offers a single point of contact with external authorities. The BIP Operations Manager oversees the management of the Site's interaction with the regulatory authorities such the EPA, DUAP, Sydney Water, WorkCover, local government, police and Sydney’s Fire Brigade..

We are committed to, and everyone who works at Qenos must show responsibility for operations, products and practices that protect the safety and health of our employees, contractors, customers and the community, as well as protecting the environment.

Each of the member companies on the site at Botany is a signatory to the Plastics and Chemical Industry Association's (PACIA) Responsible Care ® Code of Practice that ensures that the chemical industry meets community expectations for protection of people, protection of the environment, making safe products and operating sustainable industry.

The BIP site formed a consultation committee late June, 1999, comprising of four residents, one local member of parliament, two council officers and a representative from Qenos, Huntsman and Orica. The BIP Manager chairs the meetings which are held on a three monthly basis. The meetings allow regular dialogue between industry, council and residents and any concerns in relation to safety, health and environment are able to be raised by the local community.

Numerous visits have been hosted, including one from a group of 45 chemical engineers from China and another from a group of 26 students from the University of Twente in the Netherlands. These supplemented the many local school, university and community bus tours that were conducted.
