FOOD CONTACT

In general, when used in the Major End Use application described on the product datasheet and in accordance with FDA application guidelines, Qenos Food Contact grades meet the requirements of item 2.1 (homopolymers of HD and LDPE) or item 3.1a (copolymers HD/MD and LLDPE) of 21 CFR 177.1520 (c) and AS2070-1999 section 4.1.1(a).

Polyethylene listed in items 2.1 and 3.1a may be safely used as articles or components of articles intended for use in contact with food except for articles used during packing or holding food during cooking.

Note that some additives used by Qenos may have food migration limits and there can be restrictions on volume, food type and processing as specified in 21 CFR 176.170 Tables 1 and 2, or 21 CFR 178.2010 or other relevant FDA sections.

Qenos black grades comply with AS/NZS 4020 for suitability in contact with potable water. Black PE grades are not food contact approved under the FDA regulations as the carbon black used is not approved by the FDA.
