About Qenos

In 2008, Qenos became a subsidiary of China National Bluestar (Group) Co. Ltd, a joint venture between China National Chemical Corporation (ChemChina) and The Blackstone Group, a leading global alternative asset manager and provider of financial advisory services listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

ChemChina is one of the leading specialty chemical and petrochemical companies in China with its headquarters in Beijing. China National BlueStar (Group) Co. Ltd. is a large-scale state-owned enterprise, which is a specialized subsidiary of ChinaChem Group Corporation. Also headquartered in Beijing, BlueStar focuses on new chemical products and specialty chemicals.

Qenos has its roots firmly in Australian manufacturing. The Qenos Altona site was originally part of the Altona Chemical Complex which was established in the early 1960s and is the largest production centre for petrochemicals and plastics in Australia. Botany in Sydney has been a base for chemical companies since 1942 and today is a major centre for chemical and plastics manufacturing.

Over the years, ownership of the companies has changed, but the local industry, experience and expertise have developed and grown.
