Community Involvement

Sustainability & Community > Community

Qenos appreciates the opportunity to get involved with and be a part of our local communities.

In line with our Community Right to Know affiliation, Qenos opens its doors to local groups, universities and schools, industry representatives and other visitors to provide information and showcase our people, our plants and our products.

Qenos encourages employees to volunteer their time to assist community members and organisations in need, and to participate in community and charity events. Examples of community projects and programs include the Meals Program at Sacred Heart Mission; the Women’s and Children’s Centre at Botany; Run For the Kids in Melbourne; City to Surf in Sydney; Ride to Work Day and Scientists in Schools.

Qenos provides mentoring support and employment to young people through Whitelion, a welfare organisation that works with young people in the youth justice system to open doors to opportunities, positive relationships and community connections.

We also contribute to the daily life of local communities through sponsorship of sporting clubs and events, including Altona Football Club; Coogee Juniors; Altona Gators Basketball Club; Yarra Bay ANZAC Sailing Race; Altona Life Saving Club and golf clubs at Randwick and Kooringal.

Qenos assists health and welfare providers such as Sunnyfield Respite, BayWest Youth Housing, the MAD Foundation, BreastWest and Western Health.

We are proud of our ongoing association with local community groups and events, including Matraville Christmas Carols, the Qenos Art Show and Rotary Club of Altona's art exhibition.

Qenos has also made in-kind donations of furniture and other equipment to several State Emergency Service units, the Men’s Shed at Altona, Buninyong Fire Brigade, Amaroo, Laverton Garden Club and Probus.
